The Rum Rennaisance Festival 2012 took place in Miami in the Deauville Beach Resort. Rum judges from all around the globe gathered together again to taste the best rums in the world. We tasted rum from as far as Australia or Madagascar.
For 3 days we were tasting in sessions divided in the following rum categories:
- White Rum
- Gold Rum
- Aged Rum
- Old Aged Rum
- Premium Aged Rum
- Dark Rum
- Spiced Rum
- Flavored Rum
- Over-proof Rum
Every tasting competition makes you realize the different styles and blending methods of the rum from different producers. As always, Dominican Republic had a strong presence.
Here the results for the Dominican Rum from the RumXP Tasting Competition 2012:
- Atlantico Private Cask
- Vizcaya Cristal
- Atlantico Reserva
- Vizcaya Cask 21
- Atlantico Platino
- Bermudez 1852
- Brugal 1888
- Brugal Ron Añejo
See the whole list at the Rum Renaissance Festival Page.
It was a pleasant surprise to see Bermudez 1852 in the competition. Unfortunately, Barcelo rum did not participate this year due to some distributor changes (it would definitely reach a nice ranking).
Honestly, I thought Brugal is going to get a better ranking it was one of my favorites at the blind tasting.
Dominican Republic is a strong player in the Rum world.
I would like to thank the organizers & volunteers who helped during the event. We had a great time and enjoyed the best rums in the world.
